A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Lies

info
Like a lot of work of mine, this was inspired by the band Pitchshifter. The first song of their's I heard was "Underachiever" which is what inspired this painting with the phrase "Lie to me".
The feeling behind this painting is that we, as consumers, want to be lied to. We want companies to tell us why we should buy things, we vote for politicians over and over who often get caught out lying. We believe everything we are told by insipid "reality stars", and buy the crap they are peddling. Society says "Lie To Me" and the consumer world responds with "ok".
The text is actually pink glitter which is really bloody hard to photograph! Hence the weird look to it in the photographs.
